Johannesburg, South Africa, 2012 - A view of Egoli, The City of Gold, from the top of the Main Reefs (Tailings dam) Mine Dump. The surface of the mine dump has been covered in zigzagging shade cloth barriers, to prevent dust pollution, and to sustain plant life as part of the rehabilitation program. I visited the same place six years later, and the surface is now completely covered with grass.
